Maintenance, Troubleshooting & FAQ Hub

To maintain a vertical hydroponic tower, you must perform daily water flow checks, weekly pH and TDS balancing (5.5–6.5 pH / 800–1200 ppm), and monthly system flushes to prevent algae growth and pump failure. Consistent monitoring ensures rapid plant growth and prevents common issues like root rot or nutrient deficiencies.

1. Routine Maintenance Schedule

FrequencyTaskPurpose
DailyCheck Water FlowEnsure pump is running and water is trickling from the top.
WeeklypH & TDS TestingMaintain nutrient balance using a TDS Meter.
Bi-WeeklyWater Top-upAdd fresh water and Nutrients as levels drop.
MonthlySystem FlushDrain reservoir and clean the Submersible Pump filter.

2. Troubleshooting Common Issues

Yellow Leaves (Nutrient Deficiency)

Yellowing leaves usually indicate a pH imbalance or low TDS. If your pH is outside the 5.5–6.5 range, the plant cannot absorb nutrients. Solution: Test pH first, adjust, then check TDS levels with your meter.

Algae Growth & Root Rot

Algae thrives in light-exposed water, while root rot (brown, slimy roots) occurs from low oxygen or high water temperatures. Solution: Ensure the reservoir lid is tightly sealed to block light. If roots are slimy, flush the system and add a small amount of food-grade hydrogen peroxide to the water.

Pump Failure or Low Flow

If water stops trickling, the pump filter is likely clogged with roots or debris. Solution: Unplug the pump, remove the plastic cover, and rinse the internal sponge filter.

3. FAQ Knowledge Hub

Beginner & Installation FAQs

  • How much electricity does the tower use? The pump uses minimal power (approx. 15-25W), similar to a small LED bulb.
  • Can I grow indoors? Yes, but you will need full-spectrum LED grow lights for 12-16 hours a day.

Nutrient & Maintenance FAQs

  • How often should I change the water? We recommend a full water replacement every 30-45 days to prevent salt buildup.
  • What if my TDS is too high? Simply add fresh, non-nutrient water to the reservoir to dilute the concentration.
